How Far in Advance to Book A Moving Company

Planning a move takes time. You want to be sure that everything is in order and there are no surprises. Finding a moving company in Ft Worth that can help you with your move is important. But how far in advance do you need to plan your move? You should book movers as soon as you know the dates of your move. However, there are several considerations:

1. You get professional and experienced movers:

One of the most important advantages of relocation lies in the professionalism and experience that the movers have. You’ll begin with a search of “moving companies near me”. Starting early will give you time to do your research and choose the company that fits your needs the best. Relying on friends or family members may fail at the last minute, which is less likely with a relocation company.

Moving furniture and other items requires moving blankets and packing materials. Moving companies have everything you need on hand, without having to spend extra money on purchasing blankets, boxes, and tape.

2. Consider when and how far your move is

Summer is the busiest season for moves. If you are moving within the same city during this time, booking two months in advance will give you more options of movers without the worry of taking whomever is available last minute. For a move to another city within the state during the summer, 10-12 weeks are recommended.   If you’re moving within the city, but off season, two to four weeks are usually sufficient, and four to eight weeks for an off season intrastate move is a good amount of time to plan. 3.When should I schedule my move?

The best time to schedule your move is when it’s best for you. However, some times are busier than others in the moving industry. If you have the freedom to choose any date to move, then take advantage of the opportunity to move when expenses will be lower.

Booking early may give you an edge or even a discount. But how can you book a date that will significantly lower the cost of your move? Choosing a move in September through May, during a month that is slow for the industry. Also, moving at the beginning or end of the month, when most leases begin and end, will hit during a busy time. Scheduling your move in the middle of the month, and in the middle of the week, may give you a good discount. Fridays are notoriously busy for moves.  It’s also best to avoid moving during national holidays.
