Summertime is the most popular time for moving, despite the heat. Many families prefer moving while their kids are out of school and have more time to pack and unpack. If you wait too long, you could end up with a truck too small for your belongings, or you may not be able to book a moving service during the dates you need.

Consider Your Heat-Sensitive Belongings

Some of your packed belongings and décor can suffer from the heat and even damage your other possessions. For example, candles can melt while in the hot truck, dripping wax through the boxes and onto things like your fabric furnishings and rugs. When packing candles or anything else that can melt, consider placing them into a plastic container where they won't drip or simply giving them away to your friends before you move. Chocolate and hard candies can also melt quickly and get messy, so be careful what kinds of treats you give kids.

Beat the Heat With Proactive Preparation

Moving in any season always goes smoother with preparation, but especially in the hot summer. Dallas and Fort Worth get overwhelmingly hot in the summer, so make sure that you take into account how much water you'll need, and even consider arranging to only pack and unpack the truck in the morning and evening, spending the hottest part of the day indoors or in the shade.
